Hey Ladies, I have been wondering if it was only me who struggled with the right fit for a Jeans/Denim or is it a common struggle with most women's. While growing up, I realized that my Aunt always preferred a Flared pant popularly known as Bell Bottoms during the earlier days, Although today there are so many choices for Denims, we women still can't decide as to which style to buy..
Given the fact that current Denim Market offers varieties of choices which only adds to dilemma of buying a wrong product. There are popular terms called "Muffin top" it refers to visual sight of individuals lower waist bulging out of the pant. This happens not because an individual is overweight but happens due to a wrong selection of Denim or pant for a given body type.
This article will include guidelines for the right Denim for your Body:
Let's talk about different type of Denim washes : Mostly there are 2 types, Dark , Light and Distress wash.
Dark wash : Denims will always look more Flattering and Polished as it's all purpose denims (Professional or Causal wear) it's all about how you dress up or down your attire eg: layering a Jacket with some accessories will make you look sleek, more streamlined and will elevate your image and personality.
Light wash :Appear more Causal and Relaxed. Denims are appropriate to hang out with Friends or Social gathering or Movie, Lighter wash are acceptable in the creative industry but should be avoided in cooperate set up.
Distress wash: It can be in dark or light wash denim, what's important to remember where is the distress located on the denim, as distress patterns can lead our eyes to that area drawing attention, hence avoid the distress pattern where it's not comfortable.
Denim Rise :
Rise means how well does the Denim hugs a particular body, High rise, Midrise and Low rise are the options available in the market, how do you decide which rise is your fit, well for that we need understand our bodies, Mostly we fit in two categories 1) Shorter upper Torso and longer legs 2) Longer upper torso and short legs
Torso is the area between your chest and your belly button
If you have a Shorter Upper Torso and longer legs then Midrise will suit better as it will help elongate your torso with the illusion created. Try avoiding extreme high rise which is above your belly button.
If you are Longer upper torso and short legs then you want to invest in high rise pants as they will provide illusion of long legs so that your body looks more proportionate or balanced.
Denim Cuts :
As new fashion trends hits the market, you will always find new shapes introduced however below are few classic styles - Straight , Skinny, Flared/ boot cut, Slim.
Skinny : Tight through your thigh, Slim at legs
Slim: Snug through wait and hips, slim at legs , slightly bunched at ankle
Straight : Slim though thigh, Straight through legs straight leg opening
Boyfriend : Relaxed through thigh, tapered through legs , tapered leg opening
Flared: Skinny through thigh, Flared leg opening
Lastly Pockets are equally important for that right fit because small pockets will make your backside look bigger than usual and larger pockets will give an illusion of saggy not in shape appearance, so how do you know which pockets are right , pockets needs end right at the end of your checks (v design on the pockets)
